The BEST Homemade Pasta Sauce
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 1 can (14-1/2 ounces) diced tomatoes, undrained
- 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 1-1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/4 cup minced fresh basil
Instructions:
- In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic, cook and stir until tender, about 6-8 minutes.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, water, sugar, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a boil then reduce heat and let simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat and stir in the fresh basil.
